Lebanese Al Manar TV Launches on Indonesian Palapa C2 Satellite

The Hezbollah-owned Lebanese television channel Al Manar has started broadcasts via the Palapa C2 satellite, the Helsingborg- based Lyngsat Satellite website reported on 8 April.
The TV channel is available at the following parameters for viewers in the Asia-Pacific region:
- Satellite: Palapa C2 at 113 degrees east
- Frequency: 4080 MHz horizontal polarity
- Symbol rate: 28125
- FEC 3/4
The Palapa satellite is owned by the Indonesia Telkom company, in which the Indonesian government holds a majority shareholding(kb. pemegang saham.).
According to data provided by Lyngsat, the satellite transponder is operated by Satelindo, an Indonesian TV and mobile telephony provider.
(In Janaury 2008, Al Manar TV launched on the Thai Shin Corporation’s Thaicom satellite, but transmissions were halted (tergencat)after a few days after the channel’s links to Hezbollah were revealed.)
